Servicing a tap washer in your home is a relatively simple process that can be done with just a few tools. Here’s how to do it:

1. Turn off the water supply to the tap
Locate the isolation valve under the sink and turn it off. If you can’t find an isolation valve, turn off the main water supply to your home.

2. Remove the tap handle
Use a screwdriver to remove the screw that holds the handle in place. Once the screw is removed, gently pull the handle off the tap.

3. Remove the tap bonnet
The bonnet is the metal cover that sits on top of the tap valve. Use a spanner to loosen the bonnet and then remove it.

4. Replace the washer
The washer is a small rubber ring that sits inside the tap valve. Carefully remove the old washer and replace it with a new one. Make sure that the new washer is the same size and shape as the old one. Tap washers can be purchased from most hardware stores.

5. Reassemble the tap
Put the tap bonnet back on and tighten it with the spanner. Then, put the tap handle back on and tighten the screw with the screwdriver.

6. Turn the water supply back on
Once you’ve reassembled the tap, turn the water supply back on and test the tap to make sure it’s working properly.

If you’re not comfortable doing this yourself or if you encounter any issues during the process, it’s always a good idea to contact a licensed plumber for assistance. Don’t hesitate to reach out to us on 1300 07 2019 or [email protected].
