In Australia we love to put our feet up and find a good spot to relax and escape. Even in our own homes we need a place that allows us to unwind and de-stress. One of those spots is the bath tub.

With all the high-end finishes and large projects around Sydney we are seeing more and more master ensuites and main bathrooms go all out when deciding on a bath tub. The most common bath type that we have seen in the last 4 years is the free standing bath.

While the freestanding bath can be an excellent feature for the room you also need to ensure you choose one which is comfortable. This is especially important if you plan on spending lots of time lounging in the tub. You will need to ensure your head comfortably stays above the water and your neck stays in a neutral position and doesn’t bend at a right angle. The bath gives you an opportunity to relax your muscles and soak away the stress of the day, you don’t want it to leave you with a pinched nerve or tears in your eyes from all the scented bath soap or bubbles you poured in.

There are a number of options when making the decision on your bath tub. Stone is heavy and difficult to carry through the house at the end of the project, but we do feel that it is one of the best options. A solid stone bath can come in a wide selection of colours so it’s relatively simple to match the colour scheme of your property. As mentioned before stone baths are heavy, which after installation can be a positive as the extra weight means you won’t have to worry about the bath moving when you are bouncing around in there with your partner.

Our only concern would be cleaning the surfaces. Extra care is required and you have to keep in mind that you might need to contact the manufacturer to understand the best cleaning process. A steel bath or acrylic bath is a simple alternative which can also be a comfortable choice for your home.
